Featured Koi carp transferware saucer

    found this saucer for very little

    cant decide if its old or not

    looks like transferware, so doubt chinese

    odd mark on back, cant find anything similar

    any help appreciated

    The double circle would indicate that it is Chinese and they did produce transfer ware as far as I am aware. The double circle was used a lot in kangxi marks. I've not seen one like that before but I have found a similar example. Usually they have six characters in the circles. Doubt very much it is from the kangxi period if it is transfer ware though.

    Yes, they did.
    Period double circles were centred, this one is positioned to one side.

    Interesting, never knew there was such a thing as Chinese tranferware.

    I'm not totally convinced it's old

    Thought that about the mark as well, that it should be centered

    There's a little impressed C shaped Mark, inside the mark

    Wondering if it could be an old British pseudo chinese mark

    I'm baffled !!

    It could Chinese provincial, but it could also be from another (South)East Asian country.

    The Chinese were already making transferware in the 19th century.:)

    Sorry. Yeah I believe it to be a more recent chinese repro of a period piece. Didnt know about the relevance of it not being centred though.
    I jyst think it's chinese repro of a period piece. Hella lot of that went on didnt it?
