Featured It's time again for Let's Play a Game!!

Good Evening Everyone,

I finally have some spare time so I figured I would start another edition of LET'S PLAY A GAME. This particular game will be a two part game. For part one, you have the following photos to consider. Please identify pieces that are interesting to you that you would perhaps like additional photos of. Now to keep this reasonable, assume you are talking to the actual seller in your response to the game. What would your message look like? Once everyone has had a chance to respond that wants to play, we will move on to part two! Good luck, and just remember there's no wrong answers here just have fun and see if you can solve the puzzle in part two!

Seller says: "Lovely Silver Plated Collection, $50 for the entire set. This is a LOCAL PICK UP only, cash payment. I will not separate the set."

 

For $50 they all oughta be polished, eh?

An' is that square glass platter a clue about Phase 2?

The only things catching my eye is the matching pair of small bowls... (open sugar bowls?)

 

Agree with bluumz, the pair of small bowls. They have that sort of "golden glow" to the tarnish.

 

The candlestick and footed nut dish look right to me.
The square glass dish looks like it has sterling overlay decoration. Maybe the two dessert cups. The large footed bowl on the right has possibilities.

I'm skeptical of anything with that rainbow iridescence.
I would just ask for more closeups, and not let on that I really want to see bottom markings!

 

I haven't been dabbling in silver for awhile so I'll go with these, (the large bowl is a maybe.) Hope there are more for you!

 

The bowl above the two small ones with the check mark in SIS's photo caught my eye.

Since local pick up, I know this probably isn't an option (but no wrong answers, right?) I'd say I was interested in the lot and ask when I could come by. And then do my checking.

Curious Mr. Nate, was this actually the photo you had to go on, or did you set things out from the purchase to make this game for us.

I think the footed nutdish and maybe the tray with the pierced gallery ?

 

Hi Mr. Nate. My guess is the large tray with the handles, the candle stick and the footed cream jug on the left.

 

This is not my area at all, but I like the leaf one. That's all I got.

 

I would ask to see photos of the backside of everything. small matching bowls and the sugar and creamer. do they match the pitchers?

Don't know much about silver but I like the candlestick.

 

Great idea to check the listing out yourself. For this particular listing, let’s assume you live about 900 miles away, would you try to contact the seller, or do you normally pass on a listing because the seller makes it clear they are looking for a local pick up?

Yup...If it isn't conveniently close (esp. these days) I pass.

 

I would think about asking for more pictures of the items i have circled, then realize that I would have to buy the rest of it, which I absolutely do not need and do not have room for, but would keep if I bought them, so I would pass and move on. Maybe.

Jesus, there's gotta be at least 50 bucks in value here

I'd snap it up before folks started finding the ones marked sterling....or Hanau marks...or stupid teeny tiny marks.....
