Guessing this fella poked out of roof or was otherwise an architectural element so to speak? I don’t know if he’s Black Forest or Javanese or somewhere in between? My best guess was a mongoose and from Southern Asia somewhere? I do know that I love him! Doesn’t appear to have too much age but doesn’t look to be made just yesterday either. Hoping someone has a clue here. Both sides carved. 203882AD-3F7A-4970-B11C-18763F161EE3.jpeg

    Maybe a tree shrew?

Some old Chinese porcelain with "squirrels" look more like tree shrews. Yours may be along those lines too???

Shrew-faced Ground Squirrel or Tree Shrew? Many varieties but the face and tail fit, and found in East Asia…

I think it is a decorative element from a piece of furniture. The part with the hole in it looks like it slotted into something and then was held in place with a pin.
