I was wondering if anyone might know who the artist is on this painting? I thought it read "gary" but not too sure. I feel like it might be a copy of another painting. Still nicely done though. Thank you for any info!

Andean. Think the bowler points to Bolivia.

Very nice painting. And I agree, Andean, but I think Peru.
The hat of the woman in the foreground is more Peruvian Andes. Bowler type hats are also worn in the Peruvian Andes, where each village or town has a different model hat. A legacy of the Inca rule, which ordered villagers' origin to be recognizable.

Too interesting. That does appear to be his signature and he painted Peruvian figures. A very nice example of his work.

I didn't say much because while that hat in the background was screaming Bolivia, that red cap in the front looks straight up Medieval European. Unless it's Native and out to fool me.

Bear in mind the OP is trying to identify the artist rather than the subject. The artist might have created a pastiche of images rather than painting from life.
