I posted this in the Finds thread but I ended up having so many questions about it that I thought I better make a thread of its own. Sorry for the repeat. :)

“Finally acquired a bucket list item: A tea caddy. :shame: Found on my local FB marketplace for a very reasonable price.
I’m thinking early 1800s/Georgian? Rosewood? Appears to be missing a lid for the glass bowl. Do you think the bowl is original? It appears to be pressed glass but it fits well. Would the two tea compartments on either side of the bowl actually have had removable boxes? Or perhaps the compartments would have been foil/tin lined? The lids appear to sit okay on those empty spaces.
It's missing the key. Any recommendations on finding a replacement?”

EDIT: If the glass bowl is indeed a later replacement, perhaps @TallCakes may recognize it?
It does sit suspended within the circular cut out, its base doesn't touch the bottom of the box.

The glass may be later. It looks pressed, which was invented in the US c1820, and reached Europe about 10 years later (according to Wikipedia).

Looks like mahogany rather than rosewood, and it is a Victorian style one, around 1850-60. The bowls usually sit on the base rather than being suspended so it may be a replacement. The bowl wouldn't have had a lid, so it's not missing. The divisions look like they were just lidded and foil lined I don't think this one had removable caddies so you are not missing anything there.

For a key take it with you to an antique mall/dealers usually there are lots of keys at places like that you can try. If easily accessible you could also just unscrew the lock and take it with you instead - with the lock loose it is often easier to find a key as you can see how it's working in the mechanism.

That's funny, I bought it's near twin today. Sarcophagus shape on bun feet. The bowl is wrong: would have been nice fine lead crystal.

Usually, the smaller the caddy the older it is, as it was linked to tea prices.
