I found these at a thrift store I go to every day. I turned toward them as soon as I saw them & their low slung profile (and those ugly but original cushions!) & bought them when I saw the price ($35 each!) without examing them more.
When I got them home I took them out in the sunlight to photograph them and was happy even though I couldn't find a name anywhere; especially when I saw the oval rubber bands that are the seat's support and the half circle groove each goes in to keep in place - I've seen that before in other MCM chairs.
But then I saw a Phillips screw on the bottom of the chair (last photo) - wouldn't a MCM chair have slot head screws?
Please tell me these are real & not knockoffs?
    Thanks

Philipps head screws were invented during WWII and have been used ever since. With that 60s Ugly upholstery they were sporting I'd say the screw isn't out of place. Might be a replacement for one that fell out of course.

They are mcm chairs, no doubt (Danish ?)
    Good buy as well
Might be even someone who likes the cushions, even though they are f**king hideous

Good eye on the design of the chairs though mate

They might be knock-offs of Danish chairs, but they are 100% MCM.
I remember the Danish ones from my childhood, I believe they were beechwood, and the cushions were a plain moss-green.

Very likely. I believe it was a British company that had MCM furniture made in Yugoslavia. They are still of the period, so proper MCM.
I can also see that fabric of the cushions in a British home, but not in a Danish (or Dutch) MCM home.

@Ownedbybear , I know you know more about this Yugo made MCM furniture.:)

Generic, Wegner inspired design, period MCM. I still see them in my faraway corner of the world, though not as much as 10 years ago. They usually came with slot screws, as you first thought, though they probably got lost during some upholstery renovation or other. The fabric might suit them (though I myself hate it) but not likely original--almost certainly was plain-er or vinyl.

Yes,I do see some rather 'striking' wall paper & upholstery in the BBC MCM period dramas.

I'm in Miami and there are ...a LOT of little tailor shops in the little Havana area - any suggestions for replacing fabric (they all have a zipper to remove & wash the covers if stained) - I was thinking B&W stripes or geometric patterns?
Are there stores where you can buy new cushion covers already to go?

When I saw these as a kid, the awful florals were on sun room furniture. Further indoors, they were solid olive green, turquoise, orange, or teal depending.

Yes, you need a plain fabric, no stripes, squares, dots or florals.

Ugly 50s bark cloth florals and abstracts are of course acceptable if you're into ugly barkcloth.

Are you replacing covers for resale or for personal use? For personal use, you can do anything you want, of course. But selecting a fabric too far out of their period will radically change the chair's visual integrity. You might want to browse similar chairs on the internet to see what works/doesn't before you decide. Here's a quick example of what a bad choice does to a good chair. IMHO. Note too that the cushions are slightly too small which makes them appear to float on the chair's frame. When you know what type of fabric you want, find a store that sells remnants of To The Trade fabric. It's never a good investment to have cushions covers made from inexpensive fabric.

That's what I'd call a flat "no". It's fine if you're doing it for yourself, but if you have a place that sells "to the trade" remnants I'd say try there first. If you hit a nubby turquoise you're in business. The originals had a bumpy texture unless the were done in wool. (I wouldn't, being allergic to it.)

For a three year old, that nubby upholstery with the metallic knotty nubs, was a real pain in the rear, but tougher than Kevlar.I think my Great Aunt had a wig knitted out of that stuff.

I like the turquoise - but I put them on FB marketplace and the response has been incredible! I've have had 20+ messages about them already and 2 who are supposedly coming at 8am at start of estate sale I'm having so they have first shot at them.
I told both they were $600 for the pair - fingers crossed!!
