I picked up an unusual print on aluminum by an artist named Blackbear Bosin dated 1971. I am wondering what type of printing process this is called? Thanks. 20190202_180846-2268x3024.jpg 20190202_180941-1512x2016.jpg Picture_20191202061230-1512x2016.jpg

I don't know with any certainty, but silk screen sounds plausible.

That is what my wife thought but would a plate be reversed? The signature is.going the right way on the item. I am entirely unfamiliar with printing processe however

Hmmm - does it have dots, as well?

Am I missing something? I don't see a signature - can you read it?

The signature is in the lower left. Unfortunately, hard to photograph but, yes, dots on it also

Still going with the plate angle...

I really can't think of any aesthetic reason to print on fragile, low contrast aluminum (is my reasoning)... And most of his work looks like either polychrome or charcoal/pencil, not monochrome red.

    That's all I got, sorry!

While using some manner of the Kiowa flat style, Blackbear Bosin also employed European techniques of illusion and surrealism. This combination contributed to his work's uniqueness and soon earned the artist widespread acclaim as a traditional painter. Depicting his people in the same way that tribal storytellers told their histories, his art reflects both spiritual and tribal history as well as Indian mythology. The Blackbear Bosin Collection consists of a limited edition of eight prints representing some of the artist’s original sketches.

Sorry, very graphic polychrome, or traditional sketches in ink, charcoal or pencil...

A friend at the university had an interesting take on it a few moments ago . He did some research on him and knew he worked in aircraft for awhile as a sheet metal mechanic and wonders if the sheet metal sparked an interest to experiment with it and try printing on it. A little far fetched but plausible.
