I used to get debilitating hay fever as a child. Our GP recommended seaside trips. It helped massively.

Best time to detect on a beach is after a storm, if you see a line of pebbles or rocks on the sand near to the shoreline that is were the sea tosses heavy metals too.

We like to visit storm surf events and see a lot of those pebble-lines post storm, yet alas all I've got is a dinky clam shovel.

I mentioned mudlarking to my brother today, and he cringed.

    "Sifting through raw sewage!"

I'm a born sifter. He is not.

I've got skewers like that somewhere. Gifts in the 70s. The motifs on yours are all Minoan - Knossos. Copies of things from the wonderful museum on Crete.

Today all I found out was that cranberry apple crumb pie that had me running all over the kitchen wasn't worth the effort. Cut the cranberries in half and then maybe. They overpowered the apples.

(I should add, yes the black pot is seriously broken, but it's a Margaret Tafoya and was only $5. And I don't know what happened to the finish on the red pot by Teresita Naranjo-- I'll be asking about that one later. Anyway.)
