I found a lamp with a stamp "cechoslovakia" in black circle. research says 1918-20. The lamp hardware is Levelaire circa 1940-50. how is this possible

It is currently at a repair shop getting new wiring. My question is how would these two pieces be married if their origins were at least 20 years apart.

Maybe replacement hardware. I have "upgraded" lamps with new parts to make changes such as add additional sockets, but I can't tell as I can't see what was done.

Are you sure it doesn't say Levolier (mcGill)? They made a lot of light switches, lamp light sockets, etc.

My mistake. Yes the hardware is Levolier

    Czech
    not Cech.

Lamp manufacturers imported parts and put them together to sell under the company name.

The marking on the pottery portion of the lamp is "Cechoslovakia. My research says this marking is from 1918-20. Prior to the Z being added. If the poteery is valid, which I believe it is, what was the original use. Was it a lamp that was rewired? The pottery only has a hole top and bottom. Blue pottery with a peacock on it.

No clue without pictures, and since you are having it rewired, we won't be able to see the bottom of the piece which is unfortunate.

Ah. So you think that it might originally have been a vase or some other pottery object that someone added lamp hardware too?

I am trying to ascertain if the pottery is in fact from 1918-20 based on the mark and if so was it intended to be a lamp from that time period. The lamp can still be taken apart to view the stamp if I need to.

If it was originally intended to be a lamp, the bottom hole will have glaze on the inside edges. If it was drilled after no glaze would be there.

It’s from a dead link, so I cannot see the marks.

We will need a clear picture of the bottom and a close up of the mark, please.
