Featured Sterling silver pedestal boat candy bowl.

Hello to everyone .Sterling silver pedestal boat candy bowl by Synyer & Beddoes .Has mark -Made in Chester,1912 year .I have a question, here is some marks ,an angel and the letter A, a small letter A ..... I don’t know the meaning of this mark .Do you have any idea about this marks?

 

Wow just had to comment what a lovely piece! I know I have seen that mark before. I originally thought it was for export but I don't think so.

 

Beautiful form-has a shape reminiscent of an ancient two handled Greek drinking cup/bowl-a 'Kylix',with the loopier handles of a 'Kantheras' (though yours not as bulbous/ballooned).

It's not an import mark. I'll lay odds it's either a retailer or for want of a better word, a brand name. Some silversmiths worked in alliances or used a fancy name. For example, Joseph & Horace Savory marked as the Goldsmiths' Alliance.
