Featured German wooden box

    I've had chocolate covered ones, but never made them. The "proper" ones don't even have fat in them, never mind chocolate or jam.

    Back to the topic at hand....Nuremberg is famous across Germany (and in many other places) for their Kristkindlemarkt (sp?), so in many minds Nuremberg (or Nurnberg) = Christmas.

    Lidl sells giant ones, ring shaped at Christmas. Plain dark chocolate covered gingerbread, with a sugar crust base. To die for. And as for their stollen.....

    They still make them. I have this tin from Lebkuchen-Schmidt in Nuremberg, 2008:

    It's big: more than 16" long. That's a lot of cookies! But dang! It's a nice tin.

    I have a mulled wine cup sitting here from the Christkindlesmarkt. Too bad it came empty.
