I'm stumped. This vase is 4.5" high, and about 8" in diameter overall. There is an impressed "174" on the base. I found another unidentified example on Google by searching "rose vase 174".

I don't know why I thought it might be Weller. Gotta start somewhere, I guess. Anyone know for sure?

It was produced by Red Wing for Rumrill. My book identifies it as RumRill "Georgia Rose Group" squat vase. No. 174, Medallion Line, 4 1/2" tall. Reference is Warman's Red Wing Pottery by Mark Moran, pgs. 218-219. The book value on this line seems very optimistic starting at $150+ . Warman books always seem to have inflated values (at least in my experience) but I haven't researched recent selling prices on this line. Good luck!

Thank you Don! I did check the Dollen Red Wing Art Pottery book before, but it isn't listed there. It doesn't cover many of the Rumrill pieces. Now that I know - it's so similar to the RW Magnolia pieces, I can't believe I didn't think to keep investigating.

It took me awhile too. I kept staring at the pictures and I knew that finish felt just like butter. Finally I remembered Red Wing. The Warmans book has a mold number index so it was pretty easy from there.
