    Yup - those fat well made clasps with the short tab are earlier. I'd agree on 60s ish.

    Not amber. The string may be a combination of bakelite, phenolic resins, etc.; all factory made. We bead collectors refer to them as part of trade beads that came, and still do, from Ghana and other west coast countries. More desirable are the rounded disk shape as opposed to barrels, but they're still "cool." Search 'African trade amber' and you'll be buried for hours. Consult Angela Fisher's "Africa Adorned" and you'll never part with them.
