    Scent box? Very pretty brass fashion item. Probably 1980s.

    Himalayan amulet/prayer boxes are closed lidded boxes, no pierced decoration, no holes for things to fall out;):

    1980s into 90s, costume, especially that clasp. Victorian Revival copy of a vinaigrette.
