I got this clutch about a month ago. Can you help me with age, style, and method of making the designs on the leather. Thank you!!

Isn't that sweet? Envelope clutch. Strap to hold gloves. Design looks tooled. Not art deco. 1920s-ish at a guess.

Thank you Debora, Anti, and Joy.

Can you still get shoe polish in different colors? Or do you think this has been painted?

The morning glories are very Arts & Crafts/ Art Nouveau. The shell design is earlier too, but the colors and shape are later 20s. So.... it's looking for a cloche hat and dropped waist dress to hit the town with. I wouldn't mess with it.

    OMG - okay.
It's really hard for me not to just "clean something up a little", or "fix something up a little". But I won't, I won't!
    It's scuffed!!!!!!!

If your intention is to resell, let buyer deal with condition.

PS, as far as method of making the design; leather designs like this are not individually hand-tooled. The design would be stamped on the leather, by machine, and colored much as one would color a print on paper, using leather dyes.
I'm no fashion expert, but my Mom had things like this, from the 70s or later; it is a pretty timeless design.
I'd expect if it was made in the 1920s there would have been significant stiffening and cracking of the leather over the last 100 years. I'm just not seeing that much age.

Stamped. Thank you. Will remember distinction. And later possible; that frame certainly looks modern.

Search terms might be "embossed, hand-decorated, 1940s" just as a guess. I find some similar, and a contemporary version also; one described as Japanese:

The morning glory design is certainly not 1940s.

I'm not up to snuff on bags like this, but doesn't the tag look modern/newer?

I think the leather is in excellent condition for being 1920s. The flowers look like Arts&Crafts / Art Nouveau era, but the leather itself looks 1940s to me, mostly by the condition shown.

It looks old in person. :)
It came with a small mirror in one of the inside pockets, which is an "old" touch.
Let me upload some more photos.
