This bear is approx 12" tall. I don't think Steiff, but similar in quality. His head, arms, and legs are all jointed. Felt paws and mouth. Any idea of the maker? Thanks.

I think I finally sold Eubie (as I named him) some time ago. He was still in good condition because I did not play with him much. So much for sentimentality.

He was at an estate sale for $3, just grabbed him thinking it had some quality. Funny thing, the seller said, "Don't tell me I missed a Steiff...!" I picked him up in the first few minutes. I actually wasn't thinking it was a Steiff, but maybe some other German maker.

Last question... Is there any way to do a light cleaning on something like this? His fur just seems a little dirty. Wondered if there are any tricks out there.

I would start out by just giving him a good vacuuming. I collected Boyds Bears at one point & that was their suggestion for cleaning all of their bears.

Vaccum him with a old tights over the nozzle so it doesn't tug. If you're REALLY careful, you can use a little carpet shampoo foam on a soft brush, but treat him like a mogwai: don't get him wet. Dry with a hairdryer and then fluff up.

    I agree.....looks like Zotty.

I would try one of the new dry shampoos on the market in a small area.
