This is just too pretty to put a cigarette out in I can’t anything like it Does the ridges in the glass on the bottom mean it is EAPG? I’m trying to learn how to identify that. I don’t think this is terribly old but at least vintage from the 50’s or before.

Thank you for any help. Hope ya have a great weekend

Venetian glass, I'd guess. A view of Venice from the lagoon.

  3. Aquitaine

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I was thinking that was WAY too NICE to use as an ash tray, but exactly what it sure looks like!!! LOVE the color!!

The 50s is way to late for EAPG :)

One too many towers for Venice.
I searched for other location, but nothing stood out.

Can't say it looks a lot to me like Venice either. That's just what I'm used to seeing on glass of this type.

It's not a view OF Venice, it's a view FROM. Looking towards I think, Maria della Salute. One of the lagoon churches anyhow.

Souvenir of Venice, probably made in Empoli.

Actually, San Michele is more likely.

That would be even better if you could manage to polish the wavy rim. But I wouldn't think badly of you for taking a pass. That type of silver overlay is so hard to clean, it takes a lot of elbox grease.

That cobalt is very typical, as is the silver overlay work.

Good to know. This is the first time I’ve come across an ashtray like this. The new owner is using it for a mint bowl. ;)

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

A better use! Maybe the new owner will think of some small items to put in the cigarette slots. Maybe small tongs to pick up the mints?
