Good day folks. Am I correct in assuming this beautiful hand blown, hand painted, enamel paint vase is Bohemian? If so, is there a way to pin down maker? Stands 9 1/8" tall x 4 1/2" wide x 3 1/4" deep with a 3 3/4" diameter base. Thank you Bohemian.png Bohemian7.jpg Bohemian3.png Bohemian5.png Bohemian6.png

This might qualify as Vaseline glass.

    Is this opaline glass?

Or is it custard glass. Just filling space until the true glassies come along.

I don't think it is custard glass. At least none that I'm familiar with.
Could be opaline but not 100%. I can see the shadow of my fingers behind it

I have no idea. I'm not aware of Fenton doing anything like this but anything is possible :)

Our peeps across the pond may have some info on this. :nailbiting:

I think it is Opaline but I am not sure.

Did you look at the Bristol Opaline glass painted vases online to see if any are similar to yours?
Hopefully someone will come along and help out with positive id for you.

This does not have the rough pontil scar like what most people call Bristol glass. From what I have read all of the items being called Bristol glass are not. IIRC true Bristol glass was from the 1700s? But with that being said, I'm sure there are a gazillion IDed as such. Possibly might find some similar that way. I'll check into that. Thank you very much

I doubt it very much. I don't recognize the shape and the decoration style doesn't seem right. Looks a bit too naturalistic and Fenton would have used a colorful fern rather than grey shading. One thing about Fenton's decorations is that they usually aren't subtle. That being said I'm afraid it might up being one of those generic Bohemian vases from the very late 19th/very early 20th century. I would not have used a custard glass descriptor if it was mine and I was listing it for sale but it does glow and custard glass is hot right now so...

I never thought to even call it custard glass due to the fact it isn't like any custard glass that I'm familiar with but then again most custard I've handled were thicker glass than this vase
I agree that it might up being one of those generic Bohemian vases from the very late 19th/very early 20th century.

Late 19th C Bohemian with a side order of uranium and enamelling. Do not get me started on Bristol.

Any glass that glows like that. Uranium glass especially. Some influencer must have featured it. I can't keep it on the shelves.
