When I first picked up the light and almost translucent cup and saucer, I thought French. I almost didn't see the faint hallmark for Belleek (in pink). I am assuming the 'Trenton NJ' mark might be a retailer although I did see where Belleek produced hotelware in Tenton, NJ. The raised (jeweled) enamel is pretty exquisite but the serpent or snake tail that trails down to the underside of the cup is fabulous. I went back through the Belleek marks but didn't see this one? I am assuming it is older. Approx. height of cup 1.87 in., diameter of saucer 4.5 in. Thank you for you help!

Great cup and saucer. Sometimes referred to as American Belleek.

Hard to get hotel ware from that...I've never seen the handle treatment, going into the bottom of the vessel.
    A remarkable piece, Laura...for sure!

Hoe fantastic. Someone sitting across from you would see the snake as you drank. I would love to find one of those for my daughter. Is it for sale?

IIRC the American Belleek gave rise to Lenox. Lots of fine porcelains were made in New Jersey for a while in the 19th century.

It will be in our next auction. We have very conservative estimates at $150-$250 starting bid $50. NO RESERVES! I can send you a private message. This is the rest of the contents from that incredible estate full of fantastic porcelain, art glass, furniture and million dollar library of books!

Laura-May I ask what your Auction site is ?

Yes, I just didn't want to advertise and break the rules but it is gallery63.net We should have our next auction uploaded by Thursday or Friday. We should have already had it finished! The client spent a million - yes a million dollars on his book collection. The person who 'catalogued' it never mentioned first edition or limited edition so the next couple of days are going to be tedious!

But DANG it can lead to a fat payout for both seller and auction house if they do it correctly.
