Could anyone help me ID it and give me some background behind who made it and when and also what I should ask for it in value when I sell it?

I do not have the key for it so it does not lock.

I believe it has a small tag in the corner that says Genuine Diamond Vulcanized Fibre.

It is about 36 inches wide
It is about 21 inches deep
It is about 24 inches high

    It weighs about 50 pounds.

Any help would be appreciate, thanks!

Hello Kapidr! Your "trunk" was made by the Multnomah Trunk and Bag Co of Portland, Oregon. Try a search and you'll see lots of good info.

Perhaps $50 to $100 bucks, depending upon your location. Location has everything to do with value, and even for a low price, it may sit there unsold.

Have you been able to find out the value of this trunk? I have one similar but no label so I was just curious if you had had any luck.

@Gwen value depends upon your location and sales venue. I gave an example above, not an estimate. For example: these are worth a little bit more on an island than on the mainland. They are still quite numerous on the mainland. If you live on an island, perhaps you could get the $50 for the trunk through Craigslist. :cat:

Aww, thank you antidiem. I couldn't take a photo like that anymore, because: 1) That cat died a few years ago, and 2) She liked to keep warm on the old computer monitors, before flat screens.

This was my kitty who passed away 18 years ago, she loved to sit on top of my monitor...

Thank you very much. Poor Wheezer was literally being carried down the shelter hall to be euthanized when my cat-rescuing friend grabbed her. She wound up with us and had a great long life, but she always had respiratory issues.

And here were her backup heaters...

@antidiem Thank you for asking about those two sweet dogs. Barney (on the right) and Red Dog were brothers that came from an animal shelter. They were dark, reddish golden retrievers and they were literally skeletal when we got them. They both had epilepsy, but it was completely controlled by meds and they each lived to 13. They were loving and loved everyone and everything...except when I let Barney out the morning after we got them (fenced in yard). He ran around to the front yard and a minute later he ran back with a by-then-dead squirrel hanging out of his mouth. I swear he had a look-at-what-I-got-for-you-Mom smile behind that squirrel. I screamed, he stopped running, dropped the squirrel and looked completely confused. He never chased a squirrel after that.

Lynne, who is sorry for taking this thread off the rails

Yes they looked like Goldens with Irish Setter colored coats! :cat: Can see you did a great job at rehabbing and loving them. :cat: I used to raise a few Irish Setters, had an English Setter I loved too. And a cat and then another cat. Nowadays I vicariously admire other people's pets! :cat:

Hi kapidr, are you anywhere in the Pacific NW? Some one may be interested in it as a local artifact. Public places like McMenamins https://www.mcmenamins.com/ often purchase items of local interest to use in decorating their establishments. In a general sense, earlier, hump-backed wooden trunks used to be worth more, although they are quite a lot of trouble to restore. With the market now, probably not so much. The decorating emphasis here now is shabby chic industrial, so the more rust and metal the better. If you want to sell it, try a local antique co-op, a restaurant or a theater for props. I'd say $50 for it would be a good day.
