Today's were in natural light. It's very black with no sign of browning.

 

Unlikely to be a wedding anniversary, that kind of commemoration is relatively recent. Coronations and jubilees were the thing.

 

With all the caveats about black bits and identifying black bits via pics, I think you scored.

 

From what I can tell George V and Mary Teck married in 1893. So perhaps, although then I read @Ownedbybear 's comment about that.

I like the Silver Jubilee idea... but have found that Queen Mary's hair was quite grey by then and she looks a little bit older than in the photo on the pin. Unless they used an older photo on the pin for some reason and I'm going to guess they wouldn't do that for the Jubilee.

It may be difficult to figure out exactly what this is celebrating. If it was for the coronation, they didn't use the official photos of when it was actually happening. Same applies to if they were celebrating the Jubilee. -- As a side note, in photos I can find online celebrating the Jubilee, the king is not wearing a crown in any of them. Although he is depicted wearing a crown in medals commemorating the event.

I have yet to find a photo where he is wearing the coronation robe and the crosses.

I do wonder if this image started life as an engraver's composition, rather than a photo.

The royal image is on a State Trumpet. So that does indicate a state occasion.

 

You remember. If it is coral, the juice starts to bubble.
White coral has value, but not as much as red. It could be Mediterranean, just like the prized red, but with white it is not as easy to ascertain.
