Husbands mother gave him plush animals each Christmas mostly monkeys from 1936. Have no idea what yr. this is, but know it is
50 yrs. ++. I believe it is mohair. Neck covered with fabric feels like it has wire inside allowing neck to bounce and move. Thank you for response.

Hi & welcome to the forum!!:happy::happy:

A couple of more photos might help us ID your little dog. Also choosing to make them full size so that we don't have to click to make each one larger. I am assuming there are no tags, buttons in the ears or anything like that. Also give us some measurements.

    Awww, what a sweet pupper!

Elegantz, can you tell us how big he is? Also, can you tell what they used to stuff him? (straw/excelsior? something soft like poly-fill? pellets?)

Here are a few more pics. I had to keep downsizing pics as they would not accept saying they were too large. Also meas. 10"H x 12"L x 3 1/2"D.

He does not appear to be stuffed with soft ingred. sort of a solid body and head with a little give. Most of these annual plush gifts were Steiff or purchases from FAO Schwartz so thought this might have some value. 10" x 12" x 3 1/2"

    Hi elegantz!

    Welcome to Antiquers.........

Steiff did make this type terrier, however this particular pose is not clearly shown in my Steiff book.

Since you are somewhat familiar with Steiff, can we assume you felt for a "hidden" button in his ear?

I'm not sure, but I think Steiff used yarn for their animal noses.

Looking again at your picture yours looks like it is made of vinyl/leather and a different shape usually used by Steiff.

Also, looking in my book, more attention has been paid to detail on the feet.

Your dog does look well made though.

I am only somewhat familiar with Steiff, so only offering suggestions.

You could always send Steiff a photo(s) for confirmation either way, which is probably the best thing to do.

I am stymied by this delightful little stuffie. I've been looking around a bit, and I just haven't been able to find one with that neck-wire thingy OR one with brown ears AND a brown tail - or one without "toes" stitched on the feet.

I agree that he's a "good" one, but I just can't find one like him.

I love your terrier (God loves a terrier...:singing:) in its dog show stance. I have looked for vintage nodder & bobble head dogs with no success. Now I want this monkey:

Addendum: for half a minute I thought Gund was promising, soon thought not.

I had a sock monkey. The plush animals they make now are incredible. I don't envy today's kids much else.
