Featured Tiny squares with faces, piece off of some jewelry? Japanese?

    These were at the recent estate sale where I got the D&E and Hattie Carnegie piece. Obviously they have been removed from something?? Anyone seen similar? Almost seems like the material might be porcelain or glass. Sort of like the comedy/tragedy masks, but not exactly. A bit less than an inch across. Thoughts?

    They seem to be Japanese theatre masks, search for Toshikane porcelain, they made (and make? -i do not know) porcelain plaques for various jewelry, cufflinks for example.
