Featured Weird Antique Pendant

I was going through some jewelry I forgot I had and found this pendant. I don’t know what it is supposed to be, but it looks gold plated silver. One side is cracked and feels like plastic. The other side feels like glass. I have a hunch that it could’ve been a mourning piece, but I really don’t know. Any help on what it is would be greatly appreciated!

Very possible that it's a mourning image within, that had gotten wet. The shape of the front could resemble a skull. The loop it hangs from shows a lot of wear. Interesting.

 

I think it’s a reliquary.

 

@Ownedbybear I’ve never heard of a reliquary before. I looked them up, and it definitely could be one.

 

Yeah, there’s no doubt that it has water damage. I hadn’t noticed the resemblance to the skull before.

Oddly I've sold a few. They tend to move pretty well.

And if there's a face in it at all, I see one near the top of the ring!!! But OTOH, who knows!!!! But I also smoothed out the cracks to make the "face" more visible, but other than contrast, didn't manipulate the face at all!!
