Yeah me too, trouble is I never get round to selling all the small things I 've collected, but at least they don't take up to much space :)

I wonder if the interior would be stained darker if it was a snuff box? I searched for four petal flowers and came up with Indian Snakeroot. I wonder if it's not a spice box. The carvings look Indian and I think if it was a spice box, the top would depict the spice to be contained inside. Regardless, very pretty.

    Appears to be pyrography.
Much of the early 1900s pyrography was done by hobbyists. Purchased as kits.

Doubt it was a snuff box. Maybe used for studs, cuff links, small trinkets. Anything with natural oils would have stained the inside.

Thanks cc, great bit of info, seems to be a few similar type of examples here:

I like it too, I am another cute small box fan.:)
Just call it a cute pyrography trinket box. The decoration is a mix of Arts&Crafts and Art Nouveau, which is often seen on home crafts of ca 1890-1910.

Thanks Aj, I thought art nouveau in terms of decoration, but didn't want to be to presumptuous:)
    Brilliant help as always

The other day I opened the little Tunbridge ware box I posted on the forum some time ago. Inside were two Anglo-Indian silver pill boxes which I had put there and forgot about.:shame::hilarious:

It is Polish, not as old as the other one though, my guess is mid century.
The Polish are still making pyrography and painted boxes like this.
The knot design is called Slavic knot in this case, not Celtic, Frankish, Nordic, etc.;)

Brilliant info aj thanks. Things seem to sell better with their true description anyway I find

Much better than selling them as what you hope they are :)
