    Yes.
Probably 19th century, in the style of the "Golden Age".There could be a signature under the frame.
Are you considering buying it, or is it yours? If it is yours, it is worth asking an expert.

The woman's cap looks related to the ones below, bearing in mind that regional dress evolves:

This joyous lady is from het Gooi.

These folks are from West Friesland.

So your winter scene is probably somewhere on the (south)western shores of what was then the Zuiderzee.

Not mine yet. Consider(ed) buying it, but as I've misjudged the age of paintings in the past, I wanted to check the opinion(s) here.
I'm intrigued by the shape of the building. I can't find anything similar on the www

It looks amateurish to me. Very heavy handed at the least. I suspect it's a hodgepodge of bits from golden age paintings. The house might be half remembered and simply the painter's invention. Possibly inspired by something like this:

A photograph of the back would be helpful.

I couldn't reach it to take it from the wall, and to me it would look weird to ask the shop owner to get it down, and then start taking photos :shy: but I might do that anyway if it's still there next weekend.

Is that a recent photo AJ? Do people still dress traditionally as such or was that a cultural event?

The colour photo is of a special event in Schagen, West Friesland. West Friesland is north of Amsterdam.

There are events dotted around the country where people wear regional dress. Some choirs also perform in regional dress, and some people dress up in regional dress for market days.
There are still some villages where the older generation wears regional dress, mostly the elderly ladies. Those are mainly in the Dutch Bible Belt.

Okay thanks for information. Guess it's similar to English folk going out for a Morris dance when the fancy takes them.
