I'll add that clips continued & continue to be made for earring designs too heavy to be pierced & for those without piercings. I feel so old fashioned to just have one piercing in each ear & no others.

 

I thought multiple piercings were out again. Shows how much I know.

Bronwen, I am 57,my sister is 59, my DIL is 34 we all only have 1. We are not old fashioned, we are classics.

 

I'm finding lots of vintage earrings made from similar (unmatching) carved stones.

My guy tested the mount today at a strong 14K using an electronic device...an' agreed jade for the stones.
He also echoed many comments here, that Gump's was good stuff an' not to worry about 'costume' concerns.
I'll take better pics soon, add 'em to a ready listing an' see what value the market will assign them during a 7-day auction.
