    Is Mercury-gilt not a thing that comes up often on this forum?

    Indeed it has but not often.Im familiar with what gilt looks like . Ive never seen it look as bright and glaring as that.im willing to be wrong and always up to learn.

    Just wanted to mention, Jeangout appears more often as a surname in Belgium. Of course, the two-word name Jean Gout is also possible. But neither version of the name is coming up with any reputable information on a sculptor. Perhaps it's time to check printed material?
