Do these look vintage?

You don't need paint stripper for smaller metal hardware pieces, just boil the pieces in water and add a little baking soda. Use an old pot that you won't cook in again. Usually 20 to 30 minutes will do it. Wear rubber gloves and use tongs. Usually, the paint starts lifting off in the water so you only have to wipe it away with paper towels or old rags. If there are bits left in crevices, boil them again. I've had to boil ornately decorated pieces three times to get everything out of the tiny designs. If you don't like the finish under the paint, Rustoleum has great metallic colored spray paints.

Youtube has a lot of upholstery videos on all types of furniture and cushions. You may have to watch a few before finding a good one.

I'm not really one of 'em, but I'm curious to see how your project progresses, so I'll check you later. Have fun!

I liked the "look" of the chairs, but not after I realized they are spray painted!

I'm one of those old fogeys who still has brown wooden furniture! :cat:

I can't find a post about the table other than the single partial picture that is posted above in this thread. What age information did our members provide? What thread was the table discussion in?

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

In the other thread, @verybrad did identify a time frame for the table's manufacture. He wrote "40s Duncan Phyfe style table." Just FYI --

Very interesting project! I'm a bit confused, though -- are you thinking of using the yellow ones with the table? (It's a little different to use an armchair with a table, but who knows? :))

Ah! I did not get that far down into you first "chairs" thread to go looking for the table info! I think Brad's comments are the best you're going to get. The Tell City chairs are the right "vintage" for the table according to him. So if those particular chairs don't work for some reason, look for more of the same style.

If you really like the "yellow" chairs, find another place for them. They won't work at a table.

I agree with yall...the yellow chairs were meant as a different project. I was just wondering if they looked vintage as well as the other ones...
    Thanks again

The yellow chairs are 40s-50s office chairs.

Yay...I don't know why but I've always loved vintage and antique things.....even as a kid. And now that we moved into a 1932 home, I have been more inspired to search out and enjoy vintage "stuff"...

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

the word vintage, while good to use in a search, actually means nothing unless one uses a date along with it ,like it's proper use for wine to denote the year it was bottled....eg.....vintage 1929 Chateau LaPlonk.

so that a vintage coat tells you absolutely nothing about when it was made or
where it was made or the style.......or anything other than it's a coat.

A vintage 1920's coat......now you have some idea as to it's age...
