Featured Mystery Chaise

Hi guys, my wife has inherited this chaise from her mother's estate here in the UK.

Sadly we don't actually know anything about it apart from the fact she bought it from an antiques shop in the early 90s. We wouldn't even know if it was a replica!

No plans to sell it but would be great to know a bit about it - age, maker etc. and also a value for insurance purposes. If/how we should go about any restoration.

Any help extremely welcome!

 

Thats a lovely piece. Id guess 1860s-70s .The carving is exceptionally nice. Do wait for others to chime in.

 

Definitely antique and likely English in origin. Maybe just a tad later than what Johnny suggests. Tail end of the renaissance revival period.

 

Nice the way the upholstery pattern echos some of the carving.

Agree on 1870s. The wood is walnut and the carving is quite accomplished. Very nice chaise lounge!!
