    The mystery has been solved thanks to the wonderful Pamela at http://www.pressglas-pavillon.de It's from the Globus range by Brockwitz, 1926....

    It is ground on the base rim. A little nibbled too. Not sure I'd go as far to say it's polished though.

    Folk Pottery Tea Pot and Mugs

    It looks like a lot of Devon ware pottery I've seen. Possibly the better end of the scale than Motto ware.
