Wow, that's great. Those are so much nicer of course, but the similar top of the head is striking. Thx so much! What do you think? Is mine genuine...
Just bought this small wooden statue. Quite crude, height 13 cm. Lighter wood seems to shine through, so stained wood? I think it is indonesian....
That's what I think most likely. Which makes the bullroarer idea less probable.
No, it's not blobs, it's wood fibres. If anything, the pigments have come of around the hole. And there is no pigments/staining inside the hole.
Why I am still a little bit doubtful about the bullroarer use, is the burbs on the bigger hole at one side (not on the flat side), see picture...
yes, i'm glad too. i read Churinga are very sacred to Aboriginals. And that Australian museums don't show them, because of the 'Aboriginal...

Just bought this wooden object today. Looks aboriginal to me. Measurements 7 x 46 x 0,5 cm. Backside totally flat, decorated side with bevelled...
I feel the same. Happy to have found them, and to have learned more about them on this forum. Thnx everybody!
These sanatoria where quite far from inuit country, weren't they?
Thnx Mark. Would have been interesting if there had been more info on these artists of course, but pretty clear info on where and when :-)
Like my hand: yes :) Not like my finial though, that's defenitely a turtle (or tortoise). [ATTACH] (Or is the one on your pic a frog, like the one...
