It is Sterling silver meaning it has 92.5% pure silver mixed 7.5% in other metals. It is an open salt cellar.
Local antique store, $795 original price 60% off, $318 out the door. I should make a couple $100 off it even at scrap price.

Just off the top of my head I would say Hanau silver marks. Nice piece on it's own merit

The $6300 had the original box. Sold or not the box brings a hefty premium
