I can't remember if they would fire polish the applied bases but it is a bit sloppy. One way to tell for certain would be to blacklight that base...

Dust boards tend to be a clue as most American companies did not incorporate them.
If they are from across the pond, cabinetmakers were really good at incorporating some older pieces and techniques into newer cases.
