The 1800 is most likely a fantasy. It has no function other than decoration. They did do the aging fairly well though.
They're a bit too subtle It is a later copy that was hand tinted. Interesting. Done in quantity. Not terribly great value.

I don't recall ever seeing a match box those dimensions. I have seen napkins rings in this configuration.
I'd be interested in any Western Electric capacitors he may have. Shy away from the electrolytics and PCB filled.
