It is rattan and an import. I would think more likely post WWII but do not have any direct knowlege about these. What does family history say...

Probably 40s-50s. Don't think the table went with the chairs origionally. Table is Duncan Phyfe Mahogany and the paint may have been added...
It had a flat polished bottom. Makes no difference in appearance. Suppose a completely round one would be better/more closely matching original.

Possibly Italian. They made a lot of similar stylish chairs in the 80s-90s. Being in Australia, they could be from elsewhere or even domestic....
