I found this 11" Chinese vase today for $16. I believe the color is 'oxblood' and gogggle says its mark is Jingdezhen. I like it very much....
Yeah-- shoulda thought of it. It's slightly magnetic. The magnet 'jumps' towards it a small bit, but not enough to stay attached-- it quickly...
Here it is. You can where the oxidation sorta ran down from the damaged spot. I was able to (mostly) wipe that off with a damp paper towel....
Thank you for the comments. As I noted, there seems to be some small areas of rust, which makes me think it's plated brass / bronze / copper etc...
Crazy amount of patina on this one--- maybe it lived outside? There's some small areas of rust, as you can see, so does that rule out brass and...
Get a grip, ok?
Tell me about it!
One wonders why in the world people would want these, but there we go.

That's an amazingly helpful answer @2manybooks. Thank you. Since we're sharing, here's my recent acquisition: [ATTACH]
I love this stuff too! (Of course.)
Not Hopi. The colors are a little too intense / bright, but the pattern at least looks Acoma to me. There was a period in the 1960's when Acoma...
Well, as the primary (but not only) beneficiary of your guys's commentary, I see exactly what you're saying, am 'taking notes' so to speak, and am...
Yes, on closer inspection, the edge lines are not clean and sharp as would be expected from a clean and sharp knife or gouge. Thanks for the...
Yeah that seems completely possible, given the inconsistencies komokwa outlined above.
Wow, so interesting. I completely see the several different points you're making here. I so appreciate it.
Separate names with a comma.
