Perhaps not your cup of tea, but have you read Dan Simmons' novel Hyperion? Bet a Keats fan would get more out of it than the uninitiated do.

If you put the brooch on the way a right handed person would naturally do it, you'll find the little ring is on the bottom.
The little ring on the brooch is a place to attach a safety chain, although people do often enough put a jump ring through to make a pendant....

The symbol that looks like female/Venus with horns is the astronomical symbol for Mercury, so maybe Mercury in Gemini?
