Found it! .800 Moroccan import mark. If it's an import, no wonder the marks were a mushel. 1925 and later.
The stones are definitely glass. I looked up Moroccan and Citadine and... sure looks like it.
That's one reason I'm scratching my head. That mark looked kind of French, but those cross-hatched things look like something the Germans would...
