Hi I picked this up at my local thrift shop today. I'm wondering what it was used for? I thought for maybe putting change in but not sure. Also...

I was gonna say most of his works dont even bring that kind of money.

The OP stated on the first page that the stretchers were 19th c with a different mitering. If they were from the 19th century shouldn't the wood...
You know the stretcher on the back has barely any age? The wood should have more age and it doesnt.
Take it to a local gallery and they can tell what you have. Goodluck :)
You wont find the artist since it's a copy..good luck with it. Also take it to a local gallery for closer inspection if your not satisfied.

Ok if it's real why would it be GLUED on? It's not real made to look old/original. The wood in the back isnt even old.
