That pink is often Sunderland but the moulding reminds me more of Bavarian porcelain, as does the cream glaze.
Looks fine to me, it's not a thing that would be faked. It's one of three: Wood and, take your pick from Baggaley or Bowers or Brownfield.
It isn't just family sized: back in the day, sugar was sold in blocks which one broke up. Hence big sugar bowls.
I've seen these boxed. They are indeed resin filled with a relatively heavy silver overlay.
