The photo of the swans is not in focus and too dark to really see how the engraving was done.A better photo might help.

In the new photos it looks like a poorly cast mystery metal with gold plating wearing off in many places.

The stone may be chrysocolla malachite,it could be any number of copper based stones though.

In the photo on the left the vertical cuts were made after the other designs were engraved.

The back appears to have air bubbles in the "cut" lines,so it would be cast and not hand worked.
