Some Scandinavian manufacturers did use particle board on some items, like just about everyone else at the time.

Some of these I've seen originate in Italy, but they are made all over the place, leather wet-formed - some made by crafters.

Sensibility of the piece suggests 1950's interior decoration, I don't think it could be much earlier than that ...

The other character bears no resemblance to any character I have ever seen that way up, even the strokes are awkward and appear written upward, so...
