Interesting. The crossed swords symbol is the only one familiar to me. The "inscriptions" look like a cross between Asian (Chinese) characters...

I'm no expert, so take what I say with many grains of salt, but from the photos, they look genuine to me. 20th c. I'm pretty sure. Very sweet....
Also, I think that may be the correct lid -- why else gild the rim which would be hidden if there was a larger lid?
