I would guess it's an overlay of marbled paper. [ATTACH] The patterning flows smoothly over the various surfaces. It is a charming box.

It's purely chance as to whether you'll be able to see a watermark (or a portion of) or not, and most of the prints probably won't show anything....
Not to increase the burden, but you might want to check for watermarks as well.
