I've owned a similar carving. Yes Ivory, Yes African, Yes Real. Not that uncommon in African Collections from back in the 60's.

Be careful cleaning her - several household cleaners (fantastik for example) can damage carrara marble. (if that's what she is)
Maybe you can lessen the damage by giving the scratches a good strong burnish with a hard burnisher?
the worst way to STORE silver cutlery is by wrapping elastic bands around it. Rubber permanently stains/defaces the silver.
