Are the marks on some white stuff that is covering the base? Looks like paint?

A quick glance at Korean porcelain marks on google images show 2 character marks mostly. Interesting shape to this piece.

To my very untrained and inexperienced eye, those marks look sort of made upm resembling but not real characters.
I thought that there was a lot of Chinese influence in the decoration. Cool staple repair!

Whenever I see glaze pooling like that on the base, I think Belgian. And Belgium is next to France, so mounts could easily come from there.

Probably nowt to do with it, but the brass monkey figure makes me think of the Hindu god, Hanuman. Has more of a Chinese look decoration wise...
