Judging from my experiences with a family home, I would say 1930s to early 40s as well. We replaced fixtures such as this during remodeling in 1948.
The difference has more to do with height than with general size. A centre (foyer?) table would be 26" to 30" high, while a coffee/cocktail table...
Agreed. "Coffee" tables were not really a "thing" in the Victorian era(s). Centre tables were, but they are higher than what we term coffee tables.
