Free is worth a lot, particularly if you can use it. I don't see anything all that wrong with this that a little spiffing and a couple pulls...
Could be restored or useful for parts. Not a high-end model so probably not worth spending a lot of time restoring.

You can google various woods to look at pictures but there is nothing like experience. There is a lot of variation and several species may fall...
