Hematite is not magnetic unless it has a bit of magnetite in it.Hemalyke is magnetic.

Mexican onyx is a "trade" name for the mineral travertine,it is not onyx.Agate and onyx is chalcedony a quartz mineral.

Iron stained/dyed Mexican onyx/travertine.
The US Navy in the past had every piece of brass stripped of lacquer and hand cleaned/polished by hand.
If you look at the photo with the engraved letters,you will see bright "brass" and dark areas from scratches and wear.
The letter marks were made by a stamping tool,but they used their hands for holding thee tools.
The top of the tube below the eyepiece and the band with engraving appear to have plating wear.

Any font can be replicated,there are many sources.

Usually malachite has distinct color lines which I don't see in the photos,maybe it looks different in person.
